B.Sc Optometry

Course Overview

The B.Sc in Optometry program trains students in the diagnosis and management of visual disorders. The curriculum includes ocular anatomy, optics, and the study of diseases affecting the eyes. Students also learn to prescribe corrective lenses and provide primary eye care.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Maths.
  • For those with Maths, a Bridge Course in Remedial Biology is required.
  • A minimum of 50% aggregate marks in 10+2 is necessary

Course Duration

  • Total Duration: 4 years
  • 3 years of academic coursework
  • 1-year mandatory internship

Graduates can work as optometrists in private practice, hospitals, eye clinics, or the optical industry. They can also specialize further in fields such as pediatric optometry or ocular disease management.
