Department of Orthodontics
The department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at UDMRI was established in 2004 and specializes in the correction of protruded and irregular teeth and severe jaw deformities. The department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics offers both Undergraduate and Postgraduate programs.
The Undergraduate Program
The program includes class room teaching, seminars and hands on training of various appliances used in treating the orthodontic problems. Clinical patient interaction problem solving and observing the advanced orthodontic patient care as as an integral part of the curriculum.
The Postgraduate Program
The postgraduate program started in 2016 has an annual intake of 3 postgraduates. The program is affiliated to Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University, Srinagar, Uttarakhand.
The post graduate students are trained in the meticulous application of different treatment modalilities ranging from the conventional to the most recent treatment modalities. Diagnosis and treatment planning has been given the at most importance in the department , which in turn has overwhelmed us by the happiness and satisfaction of the patients treated in the department.
The academic activities involve frequent case presentations, seminars, journal club review. Apart from these activities the post graduate student attend the various CDE program, symposiums, seminars and national conventions and conferences conducted by the Indian Orthodontic Society and the student participate in the zonal and national Paper/Poster presentations.
The department of Orthodontics aims to deliver patient satisfaction with all the recent advances and an interdisciplinary approach.

The first and senior most lady orthodontist of uttarakhand state She is one of the founder faculties of the Uttaranchal Dental and Medical Research Institute where the motto of the department under her guidance has been to bestow patients with a beautiful,lasting occlusion and a confident smile And mentor the students towards excellence both clinically and academically with an empathetic approach towards patients. She did her graduation in Dental Surgery(BDS) as well as her specialisation(MDS) in orthodontics from the prestigious King George’s Medical College Lucknow in the year 1991 and 1993 respectively. Presently she is heading the department of orthodontics in the Uttaranchal dental and medical research institute Dehradun. Have more than 20 years of teaching experience in the field of orthodontics. Have been appointed by orthodontic society in organizing team of different national conferences Have Chaired scientific sessions at different occasions of national conferences and also has been invited on panel as a judge for various presentations. She has been appointed internal and external examiner for both graduate and post graduate examinations of different universities. Under her guidance multiple researches have been undertaken in the field of orthodontics. Have also published and co authored a number of articles in different journals of repute. She expertises in both myofunctional and fixed orthodontics mechanotherapy done with Edgewise, Roth,MBT etc. techniques . She has helped thousands of patients by presenting them with beautiful smiles through the different treatment modalities of orthodontics.
