Position Summary
The Reader (Associate Professor) in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery will be responsible for undergraduate teaching, advanced clinical supervision, surgical services, research contribution, and departmental administration as per Dental Council of India (DCI) norms. The candidate will contribute to academic excellence, clinical quality, and institutional growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Academic & Teaching
- Deliver lectures and clinical demonstrations to BDS students.
- Conduct minor oral surgical training sessions.
- Develop lesson plans and academic schedules as per DCI curriculum.
- Conduct internal assessments and assist in university examinations.
- Supervise undergraduate clinical postings and case discussions.
2. Clinical & Surgical Responsibilities
- Perform and supervise routine and surgical extractions.
- Manage impacted teeth and minor oral surgical procedures.
- Perform pre-prosthetic surgeries and manage maxillofacial infections.
- Provide emergency maxillofacial surgical care.
- Ensure strict infection control and OT protocols.
- Maintain detailed surgical records and documentation.
3. Research & Academic Contribution
- Publish research papers as per DCI norms.
- Present papers in conferences and CDE programs.
- Participate in institutional research activities.
- Promote evidence-based surgical practices.
4. Administrative Responsibilities
- Assist Head of Department in academic planning and coordination.
- Maintain departmental records and clinical statistics.
- Ensure compliance with DCI and NAAC documentation.
- Organize CDE programs and outreach surgical camps.
Eligibility Criteria (As per DCI Norms)
- MDS in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery from a recognized institution.
- Teaching experience as prescribed by DCI for Reader/Associate Professor.
- Required publications as per DCI guidelines.
- Registered with State Dental Council.
