Position Summary

The Reader (Associate Professor) in Periodontics will be responsible for academic leadership, postgraduate (MDS) and undergraduate (BDS) teaching, advanced clinical supervision, research development, and departmental administration as per Dental Council of India (DCI) norms. As the department runs an MDS (Postgraduate) program, the candidate will actively guide postgraduate dissertations, supervise advanced periodontal and implant procedures, and contribute to academic excellence and research output.

Key Responsibilities

1. Academic & Teaching (BDS & MDS)
  • Deliver lectures and seminars for BDS and MDS students.
  • Conduct postgraduate seminars, journal clubs, and case discussions.
  • Guide MDS dissertations as per DCI eligibility.
  • Develop academic schedules and evaluation systems.
  • Conduct internal assessments and participate in university examinations.
2. Clinical Responsibilities
  • Supervise and perform advanced periodontal procedures including flap surgeries, regenerative procedures (GTR/GBR), mucogingival surgeries, crown lengthening, and implant procedures.
  • Manage peri-implant diseases and implant maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control protocols.
  • Maintain detailed case documentation and clinical audits.
3. Research & Publications
  • Publish research papers in indexed national and international journals as per DCI norms.
  • Lead departmental research initiatives.
  • Present scientific papers at conferences and CDE programs.
  • Promote evidence-based periodontal practice.
4. Administrative & Leadership Responsibilities
  • Assist Head of Department in academic and administrative management.
  • Ensure compliance with DCI and NAAC regulations.
  • Maintain departmental records and inspection documentation.
  • Organize workshops, CDE programs, and community outreach activities.

Eligibility Criteria (As per DCI Norms)

  • MDS in Periodontics from a recognized dental institution.
  • Teaching experience as prescribed by DCI for Reader/Associate Professor.
  • Required publications as per DCI guidelines.
  • Registered with State Dental Council.
