Senior Lecturer – Public Health Dentistry

Position Summary

The Senior Lecturer in Public Health Dentistry will be responsible for undergraduate (BDS) teaching, community outreach programs, clinical supervision, research contribution, and departmental administration in accordance with Dental Council of India (DCI) norms. The role focuses primarily on undergraduate academic development, preventive dentistry programs, epidemiological research, and community-based dental services.

Key Responsibilities

1. Academic & Teaching (BDS)
  • Deliver lectures as per DCI-prescribed BDS curriculum.
  • Conduct practical and field-based training sessions.
  • Prepare lesson plans, academic schedules, and assessment tools.
  • Conduct internal assessments and assist in university examinations.
  • Supervise undergraduate clinical and field postings.
2. Community & Clinical Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute community dental health camps.
  • Conduct oral health surveys and epidemiological studies.
  • Implement preventive and promotive oral health programs.
  • Provide basic clinical preventive procedures (fluoride application, sealants, etc.).
  • Maintain records of field activities and outreach data.
3. Research & Academic Contribution
  • Publish research papers as per DCI norms.
  • Participate in institutional and community-based research projects.
  • Present papers in conferences and CDE programs.
  • Promote evidence-based public health dentistry practices.
4. Administrative Responsibilities
  • Assist Head of Department in academic planning and coordination.
  • Maintain departmental academic and outreach records.
  • Ensure documentation compliance for DCI and NAAC inspections.
  • Coordinate school dental health programs and awareness initiatives.

Eligibility Criteria (As per DCI Norms)

  • MDS in Public Health Dentistry from a recognized institution.
  • Registered with State Dental Council.
  • Teaching experience as prescribed by DCI for Senior Lecturer.
  • Publications as required under DCI norms (if applicable).
